Help us grow healthy children worldwide.
Global food aid is finite, while local, sustainable farming
can provide nutritious food for generations. Our goal is to
grow one garden at a time, in any local or worldwide community
seeking access to freshly grown produce.
The town of Opuwo, in
the high desert of Namibia, is a crossroads and shelter for
refugee children from nearby countries in Africa. My friend
Kakarandua is working to build a community garden for the children.
Her organization needs money to pipe in fresh water and to purchase
tools to plow and seed their garden plot. Baby Bistro Brands
donates 1% of retail sales to see this garden grow. We will
post pictures of ongoing progress and when complete, choose
a new future garden site. We invite any suggestions and thank
our customers for their generous support. |

This is the site of our first garden. The local chief designated
10ha-30 acres of land, approximately 7km outside of Opuwo, for the
project. The area is well shaded, with many big trees indicating
underground water, and the soil is deep and red, a sign of good
quality. Kakarandua, a member of the Red Cross Society of Namibia,
will oversee the project. They now need funds to build an irrigation
system by digging a borehole or constructing a pipeline from the
Namwater line close by.

groups will benefit from freshly grown produce, and we hope their
confidence will grow with the garden. |
